In September, I was invited to be a guest on a podcast called “The Resilient Journey”. In the podcast series, Mark Hoffman focusses on helping resilience professionals articulate the value that they bring to their work.
Mark heard the webinar I gave for the “Women in Resilience” workstream of the Business Continuity Institute about Confidence at Work. The Business Continuity Institute (thebci.org) has 9,000 members in more than 120 countries. Their network of business continuity and resilience professionals help to keep the world’s organisations on track, no matter what happens.
Resilience professionals can struggle to articulate the value they bring when things are running normally in an organisation. Their work can only become apparent when a crisis strikes and continuity plans come to the fore. In the podcast I gave some practical steps that people can take to become more confident at work. The main idea is that by learning to be more confident, someone will be more proactive. When being proactive, they will find it easier to demonstrate the value they bring.
